Dishonest teachers promoting the new Bible versions like to make their followers think that King James Bible believers believe that, "if the King James Bible was good enough for the apostle Paul, it's good enough for me!"

Most of the people who are anti-KJV Only actually are IGNORANT of the facts and have no idea as to WHY we will not buy into using the corrupted, copyrighted, watered-down, dumbed-down baby bibles.

And most that I have tried to dialogue with absolutely refuse to examine the actual case against their copyrighted new versions, which are taken from the corrupt Codex Vaticanus texts.  They are completely uninformed of such basic facts as:

1. The New Testament text in new versions is a translation of the United Bible Societies (U.B.S.) Greek text which is nothing but an edited compilation of the Nestle-Aland-Metzger Greek New Testament.  Nestle-Aland-Metzger, in turn, is but an edited version of the Westcott-Hort text of 1881, which was little more than the Codex Vaticanus with edits.  

New Versions are VATICAN Versions.

2. The source text, then, of new versions is the Codex Vaticanus: a classical Greek text, not Koine Greek as God gave the New Testament originally.  This Codex from the Vatican library includes apocryphal books as part of the Old Testament canon (not between the testaments as uninspired, historical material which was done in the 1611 KJV) and is missing huge portions of the New Testament, including most of Hebrews and all of James, 1 and 2 Peter, 1, 2 and 3 John, Jude and the Book of Revelation.

3. The so-called Septuagint that most people are using is nothing but the classical Greek (not Hebrew as originally given by God) Old Testament text found in the corrupt Codex Vaticanus.  The Greek Old Testament text from Vaticanus includes non-canonical, apocryphal books within the text known as pseudo-canonical (NOT inspired by God) books as Scripture but is published without those books included when sold as "The Septuagint".

4. No non-Romanist (Papist) Christian ever used a Bible based upon Codex Vaticanus until after 1881.  American Christians rejected attempts to push this Vatican counterfeit on the American evangelical and fundamentalist churches with the American Standard Version (1901) and the Revised Standard Version (1954) translation, which was produced the by Communist "National Council of Churches", until the 1970's.  Today's most popular new (Vatican) version is the English Standard Version (ESV) that is nothing but a revision of the Communist Revised Standard Version of 1954!

And with these four points, we are barely scratching the surface of corruption, lies, distortions, etc., being put forth by lovers of money (see 1 Timothy 6:10) making merchandise (see 2 Peter 2:3) of ignorant professing Christians and apostates alike with these copyrighted Vatican Versions.

What follows is a list of sources that any REAL Bible believer will spend time watching, listening to and reading in an effort to be informed and in order to have full confidence that the King James Bible they hold in their hands is THE word of God in English.  The KJB is the inspired, infalliable and preserved Bible in English and for all time:

Before beginning BBF in 2006, I spent nearly 2 years with a local Calvary Chapel (CC).  I had enjoyed many hours of teaching by CC founding pastor Chuck Smith and a number of other Bible believing pastors of Calvary Chapels.  The official statement of faith (see to your right) held that the King James Bible was the final authority on matters of faith and practice.

Without getting into details, I left the local Calvary Chapel when the move to new versions (simultaneous with the move to a more ecumenical, less fundamental Christian faith & practice) away from the original King James Bible position became clear.  I was told that "no Bible is perfect" and I left.

At that time, the official statement of faith at the main CC web site stated, "We believe that the King James Version of the Bible is the most accurate translation from the original ancient text. It is from this translation that we establish our doctrine and Statement of Faith."

That statement which appeared exactly as seen in the image to your right (click for full view) was removed and replaced sometime after 7/19/2011 and NO statement appeared on the CC Costa Mesa web site for sometime, possible even up to the time of Chuck Smith's death in Octover 2013..  Eventually, a new statement appeared with the Neo-Orthoox view of Scripture that leaves the believer without an infallible Bible in any language, anywhere on earth.

As with most "evangelical" churches and denominations, the NEW statement of faith on Scripture refers to "the Bible" generically and if you ask a CC leader to put an infallible Bible into your hands, they could not honestly do so:

A.  ONLY the "original autographs" were ever infallible and they have perished.  ONLY the original words as originally written in the original languages were ever "inspired".

B.  ALL translations of the Bible are translated from imperfect copies of the now-perished original autographs and are translated by fallible men.  Fully accurate translation is impossible and even if it were possible, there is no completely accurate original language text in existence.

C. Therefore, Calvary Chapel officially now believes that once upon a time there WAS a perfect Bible but that perished with the originals and all we have now are imperfect translations from imperfect original language texts translated by imperfect men as an impotent God looks on helplessly while His people have no perfect Bible.

And then, adding insult to injury after teaching followers that they have NO inspired Bible to read and learn from, the leaders of Calvary Chapel now encourage the use of the most corrupt new versions ever to exist in church history with the ESV, NIV, Message, Living Translation, etc., all taken from the Codex Vaticanus based United Bible Society texts.

The late Chuck Smith believed he was providing a compromise by using and promoting the so-called "New King James Bible" which is advertised to have been translated from the same texts underlying the King James Bible in 1611.  But he was lied to and deceived by the "New KJV' translators and publishers as this FAKE "New King James version" is filled with readings NOT from the Textust Receptus, matching the other corrupt new versions.

It should be noted that the change of statement on the King James Bible took place after Chuck Smith suffered a stroke (12/27/2009) and during his life-ending battle with lung cancer.  Smith made no official statement supporting the change of statement on Bible translations and authority from the original position that he held and taught on right up to the time of his departure to be with the Lord on October 3, 2013.

If you watch documentaries or the 2023 feature film starring Kelsey Grammer playing Pastor Chuck in, "Jesus Revolution," just remember that it was all done with a King James Bible in Pastor Chuck's hand.

The bottom line is that in these last days, the mass majority of Christians are lukewarm in their attitude toward God's words and Calvary Chapel's falling away since the death of Chuck Smith is simply typical of the sort of apostasy taking place in professing Christendom, today.
