Jesus Christ fulfilled 300 prophecies and types. If you were to simply run the odds on any one man fulfilling just 48 of these, what exactly are the odds?
Professor Peter Stoner (1888-1980) was Chairman of the Departments of Mathematics and Astronomy at Pasadena City College until 1953, and Chairman of the Science Division of Westmont College from 1953 to 1957. Stoner calculated the probability of one man fulfilling just 48 of the 300-plus Messianic prophecies in the Old Testament.
In 1944, he published his research in a paper titled, “Science Speaks: Scientific Proof of the Accuracy of Prophecy and the Bible.” Stoner figured that the odds of one man fulfilling 48 of these prophecies was 1 in 10 to the 157th power.
As far as true statistical analysis, the American Scientific Affiliation gave Stoner’s work its stamp of approval saying the, “…manuscript for Science Speaks has been carefully reviewed … and has been found, in general, to be dependable and accurate in regard to the scientific material presented. The mathematical analysis included is based upon principles of probability which are thoroughly sound and Professor Stoner has applied these principles in a proper and convincing way.
What Does That Number Look Like?”
That is a number so large that it is UNKNOWABLE. It cannot be pronounced! You have to start talking in numeric terms that few people even know exist. Words like “google” that have nothing to do with internet searches or satellite maps, brother.
What would that number look like?
We took a few minutes to type it out for your visual pleasure:
What are the CHANCES?
Statisticians will tell you that once you get past the 50th “0”, you have gone beyond the reality of there being ANY chance. Yet, Jesus did it!
10 with 50 zeroes behind it is a number nearly equal to the electrons in the known universe. (That number is simply 10 with 52 zeroes.) That’s a MASSIVE number. But it’s a piece of CAKE for Jesus Christ.
If you are an unbeliever and accuse us Christians of being ignorant or of living by blind faith or “using religion as a crutch”,… you are out of your MIND. We’ve got hard facts, supported by historical documentation, archaeological discovery and observable, repeatable demonstration.
The only person in this world walking by BLIND faith is the person who rejects Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, in spite of the overwhelming evidence.
