Are 1 Chronicles 21 and 2 Samuel 24 Contradictory?

At a glance, we see Satan being credited with David’s numbering of the children of Israel in 1 Chronicles 21 and then we see the Lord being credited with the SAME THING in 2 Samuel 24.  But that’s the problem: “At a glance…”

(Caps for emphasis only…  Not shouting.)

We need to look carefully at EXACTLY what the text says.  That is ALWAYS the case.  And when we look at the EXACT wording and EXACTLY what these texts tell us, we see something that is not only NOT a contradiction but is FASCINATING.

Those who make much of this and try to use it to prove a “contradiction” are not usually open to the answer because they approach the Bible with the attitude that IT must match THEIR view of what God SHOULD do, IF there were a God.  Most of these “skeptics” are simply Psalm 14:1 “agnostics” and atheists, even if they are called “theologians” or “Bible professors” or “pastors” or “Reverend” or “Priest,”…

But the answer is very simple.  Satan moved David to sin, so God allowed it and directed (moved) David’s arrogance toward numbering Israel so that the Lord could bring down judgment on Israel as a nation.

This is simply an example of the free will of a man (in David) whose heart is in a state of rebellion (at that time) being used by God for His ultimate purpose.  And, although many died as a result of God’s judgment, the ultimate end is for GOOD: the preservation of the remnant of true believers in Israel AND the repentance and restitution of David to God.

Romans 8:28 (KJV) “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

But the hardened skeptic cannot see the “big picture”.  They do not begin with a holy God who is just in judging sin.  They begin with an unholy figment of their imagination who is SUBJECT to their opinion.  So, they ignore what the text SAYS:

2 Samuel 24:1 (KJV) “And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them …”

1 Chronicles 21:1 (KJV) “And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David…”

Satan had his agenda and God used him to exact judgment.  No contradiction.  But a very incredible look into the workings “behind the scenes” in the spirit realm.  A place we only understand insomuch as we are given such “light” in the words of God.

Did the Apostle John Err In His Reference To The High Priest?


This accusation of error was a new on on me. A reader was claiming that there was an error in the Gospel of John and that the Author (humanly speaking, the Apostle John but, in reality, God the Holy Ghost) had made an error by making the office of High Priest an annual office. In other words, the accusation is that John said the High Priest was decided annually and that the High Priest served a one-year term.

Tha accusation is absurd. There are two references given, as follows:

“And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,…
“And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;”
John 11:49 & 51


“And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year.”
John 18:13

Absolutely Ridiculous Mishandling of WORDS
This accusation is simply laughable. But in my research, I found that it has been espoused by certain critics. Schaff cites a Bretschneider making such an accusation (page 710, “History of the Christian Church,” Volume 1 of 8). But that doesn’t surprise me. What passes for “scholarship” throughout human history is, many times, just a big joke.

So, let’s clear the air and make it plain for anyone reading at this point who hasn’t already seen the OBVIOUS.

John was referring to the YEAR of Christ’s CRUCIFIXION.

It was in “that year” of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ that Caiaphas was the high-priest. John was not making a reference to the status or length of term that Caiaphas would serve as High Priest. He was making reference to the fact that Caiaphas was high priest the very year that Jesus died.

The Gospel of John, after all, has as it’s climax that very event. The Gospel of John was written to tell you:

1. Who Jesus was: and He was God (read the first verse of the Book).

2. What Jesus came to do: which was to DIE and RISE from DEATH.

3. When Jesus DIED: which was on 14th Nisan–a Wednesday.

4. Where Jesus DIED: which was OUTSIDE Jerusalem on Golgotha (and not INSIDE Jerusalem, which is where the Catholic temple is built claiming to be the site of the Crucifixion).

5. How Jesus DIED: which was on a Cross (pierced) without a broken bone, etc.

6. Why Jesus DIED: which was to pay for the sins of the whole world.

When John speaks of “that year”, he is speaking of the year that Jesus died. There is no error in this or any other place where the careless skeptics make their accusations.

Did Paul contradict the teachings of Jesus?

Academics (including the ridiculously named “Jesus Seminar”—a group of apostates who couldn’t handle the Bible accurately if their lives depended on it) teach lies couched in high-sounding theological terminology, such as the idea that Paul somehow HIJACKED Christianity, changed the teachings of Jesus and, then, created a completely new religion.

The simple remedy to this mishandling of the word of God is to “rightly divide the word of truth”. (2 Timothy 2:15, kjv) This means that we must read the Bible IN CONTEXT and we must read the text carefully, understand the author’s intentions and identify the author’s immediate audience, taking into consideration the historical and grammatical information that will give us an accurate understanding. Only then can we apply it to 21st century life in a legitimate manner. This should be grade school stuff, but some of the most highly decorated PhD’s and ThD’s in the nation seem incapable of accomplishing this task.

Immediate Context

As when reading any other text in the Bible, we must look at the text and see what the immediate context is. There are different Dispensations (“economies”/ages) and each represents a difference in the manner in which God is dealing with mankind.

For example, Adam didn’t start a “new religion”. But God changed the rules after kicking Adam out of Eden. Why? The first dispensation, which began in a paradise garden, ended with Judgment. The second dispensation began with Adam and Eve outside of Eden with the commandment to replenish the earth. You will find some similarities but vast differences between these two ages (dispensations) but this is the continuing unfolding of the SAME RELIGION with the SAME GOD.

The Biblical account of history unfolds as we continue through Genesis. The second dispensation ends with a global flood. Only Noah and his family survive. This begins the third dispensation. Again, you will find some similarities but vast differences in God’s dealings with the post-flood world as compared to the second dispensation (pre-flood).

Gospel Transition Into Pauline Revelation

This brings us to the question of Paul and whether or not he “contradicted Jesus”. By taking note of the dispensational economy-age of each, we see the reason for any seeming differences between what we read in the Gospels when compared to the writings of Paul.

During His ministry on earth, Jesus was a circumcised Jew living under the dispensational economy-age of Law. He declared His intention of fulfilling the Law and spoke of the kingdom. The entire narratives of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Acts are of transition from Law to Grace. You will find differences between Jesus and the Old Testament, especially as you move toward the end of each of the four Gospels.

Paul comes along and wasn’t even saved until Acts chapter 9, after much of the transition from Law to Grace was already completed. He, then, was ordained and used of God to complete the task and to establish the infant local churches in sound faith and doctrine.

With that said, we have yet to see that Paul actually “contradicted” Jesus at all! What we do see is that Paul’s message is directed toward the Gentile believer while Jesus did not go after Gentiles, as He said Himself in Matthew 10:6, But He did “…go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

On the contrary, we see Paul at the end of the book of Acts rebuking the Jewish majority and saying, “Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.” (Acts 28:28 kjv) Paul still preached “to the Jew first” (Romans 1:16) but found fertile ground among Gentiles.

Summary Conclusion

The simple fact is that Paul continued the “revolution” that Jesus began. Jesus tried to pull Jews away from a superficial religion of works that could not save anyone and pointed them toward the Cross that He would bear as a Substitutionary payment for the sin of mankind. Once He accomplished this, He arose from the dead and ascended to Heaven, sending His Spirit to empower the apostles for the task of establishing local churches all over the world.

Paul was the hand-picked replacement of Judas Iscariot (Acts 9 & 1 Corinthians 15:8-10). He continued the work of establishing salvation as a gift from God that is based completely upon the finished work of Jesus Christ upon the Cross, sealed by His resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:1-7).

There is nothing contradictory. The Gospel, Acts and Pauline Epistles are a cohesive unit that, together with the other canonical books, tell us the whole story of God’s plan of the ages. That plan is still being worked out by the Sovereign hand of God.

Are you ready when the end comes? If you were to die tonight, would you be saved by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross, or would you be condemned by your refusal to receive God’s free gift of eternal life?

We urge you to believe and be saved.

Jesus said NOTHING about homosexuality?

“Jesus said NOTHING about homosexuality!”

The world is going to Hell with a smile. Sodomites (who wish to be called “gay” and “homosexual”) are starting their own churches and denominations, while apostates like Tony Campolo and his wife urge the Church of Jesus Christ to rebel against God and openly embrace/accommodate the “gay lifestyle”.

In order to bolster their claims of being “gay Christians”, Sodomites and their accommodating defenders are developing arguments to promote their agenda.  One of those arguments put forth is the claim that since Jesus never commented directly on the male-on-male sex act (or female-on-female activity) then it’s just not important to God.  Some even going so far as to suggest that God is absolutely “ok” with “gay sex” and the “gay lifestyle”.

But, as we shall see, this is a LAME argument.

The Lame Argument

You may have heard about the man who needed his right leg amputated and was put under anesthesia, only to awake and find that his LEFT leg had been amputated. There was no way they could do anything to correct the mistake and they still had to remove his RIGHT leg.

Understandably, he attempted to sue the doctor and hospital. However, his case was thrown out when the presiding judge pointed out that the man didn’t have a leg to stand on.

That’s a lame joke.

But the “homosexual activists” give new meaning to the word lame with their argument that, “Jesus didn’t mention homosexuality, so it must be “ok”.

Jesus Didn’t Say Anything About (fill in the blank)

After changing the word “sodomite” to “shrine prostitute” in the NIV and other Alexandrian trash “bibles”, homosexuals then begin to downplay the idea of sodomy being sin by making the following claim:

“Jesus never even MENTIONED homosexuality and NEVER called it sin. Don’t you think that if Jesus thought that homosexuality was a big deal, He would have at least MENTIONED it?”

In answer to this lame attempt to legitimize what God plainly calls an abomination in Leviticus 20:13, please consider the following:

1) Jesus is THE Word (John 1:1) and gave us the entire Bible. The words in red in your Bible are simply those words that He spake during the years of His earthly ministry. Jesus gave Moses the commandment in Leviticus 20:13 which says, “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”

2) You should keep in mind that the Gospels only contain a select amount of the words and deeds of Jesus’ earthly ministry. John 21:25 says, “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.”

3) Jesus didn’t mention the following: Rape, molestation, incest, bestiality and numerous other sins. Do you really think that Jesus doesn’t think rape is any big deal? Do you really think Jesus gave incest a pass?  The “argument from silence” is not a good argument, especially in light of the previous two points and this:

4) As Paul Harvey says, when we hear of a so-called “contradiction” in the Bible, we must be careful to hear, “the REST of the story”. “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

The New Testament clearly condemns homosexuality (sodomy) and those are ALSO the words of Jesus Christ.  A Christian participating is Sodomy will LOSE his kingdom reward.  And if you don’t think that is important, you show a complete lack of understanding.  Meanwhile, that still demonstrates that Jesus does not CONDONE homosexuality among those in His Kingdom!


Only a person who despises the word of God would make the accusation that “Jesus said nothing about homosexuality,” in an attempt to justify this abomination. It’s a patently dishonest handling of God’s word and the honest seeker will acknowledge that fact. The dishonest reprobates who continue to utter this bogus “contradiction” will one day have to give an answer for their lies and deception to Jesus Christ as He sits on a Great White Throne to judge the damned.

On the other hand, if any of the people corrupting God’s word or engaging in the sin of Sodomy would simply repent of their sin (change their mind and turn away from) and turn to the crucified, buried and risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they will be SAVED!

The greatest act of love that a Christian can commit is to share the TRUTH with the lost. And if Christians would be truly filled with the Spirit of God, they’d grow a spine and speak the truth boldly out of a pure love for the soul of the lost sodomite or the lost, pro-sodomite Bible-corrupting false teacher!

We praise God for sodomites who turn into SAINTS. Men like Michael Glatze are a thrill and a blessing to us. Michael professes to be saved and we’ll take his word for it and PRAISE GOD.

We love “gays” before they are saved and witness to them with the desire to see them come to Jesus Christ for salvation. And when one of them does come to Christ, we rejoice WITH them and FOR them.   We do not wish Hell on anyone.

Isn’t God GOOD?  He’ll save the WORST of sinners if that sinner will submit to Him, believing on the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the humility of true faith in God’s word.

Oh, sinner, come to Jesus. I am a sinner and no better or worse than anyone reading this article. But God has saved me. I am forgiven. And I now despise what God despises–SIN. But I also love what God loves and God had commended His love toward sinners.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

Isaiah 53:9: Does Isaiah contradict the New Testament Gospels?

Isaiah 53:9 in the King James Bible reads, “And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death.”

I have received two takes on this that claim an inaccuracy or contradiction in the King James Bible.

Take #1: Jesus actually was with the WICKED in death and with the RICH in his grave. In other words, Isaiah got it BACKWARDS.

Take #2: The new translations are more accurate and their translation of Isaiah 53:9 is better than the King James Bible.


Take #1 To answer this first accusation, was must refer you to the King James reading above while remembering that the best commentary on the Bible is the Bible itself.

In Romans 6:23, we are told that the wages of sin is DEATH. 2 Corinthians 5:21 then tells us that Jesus was “made to be sin for us.” In other words, Jesus never sinned but became sin on the Cross. In this way, He became our SUBSTITUTE and paid for the sin of the whole world (1 John 2:2).

Only the WICKED die. Jesus made his grave with the wicked because the sins of the wicked were placed on Him. And that is exactly what Isaiah said would happen.

Also, the text says that he “made his grave with the rich in his death.” This is absolutely true. He died as the wicked do and was buried in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathaea according to Mark 15:42-47, which describes the preparation and burial in terms that clearly indicate that Joseph of Arimathaea was a man of considerable wealth. He spent serious money on the preparation and owned a tomb originally intended to be used for his own body. ONLY  “rich” Jews of the 1st century could pull this off.

There is nothing contradictory between Isaiah 53:9 and the Gospel accounts. However, there is another take on this…

Take #2 The other accusations regarding this text come largely due to the confusion created by the new versions and/or some self-appointed “scholar” who claims to have found that their translation of the Hebrew text proves that Isaiah was mistaken and that the King James translation is inaccurate.

The latter is answered as we deal with the former. None of these “private interpretations” really add anything to the discussion. They are virtually the same as the copyrighted new versions on the market. So, let’s deal with the new versions and, in so doing, we answer all of the skeptics who attack Isaiah using Take #2.

We will list some examples of new versions as they corrupt the word of God:

The New American Standard “His grave was assigned with wicked men, Yet He was with a rich man in His death.”

This is just a bad translation. The Hebrew for “wicked” is (transliterated) RASHA. The Hebrew for “rich” is ASHIYR. The Hebrew for “man” is ADAM and it does not appear in any Hebrew text with RASHA or with ASHIYR. Why did the NASV translators ADD to God’s word?? This is a corruption of the text.

249 times the King James translates RASHA as “wicked” and only three times as “wicked man”, and that is only when the context demands it. Likewise, ASHIYR is translated “rich” 20 times and “rich man” three times, only because the context demanded it.

By adding the word “man” TWICE in their translation of the first half of Isaiah 53:9, the New American Standard casts confusion on the word of God. The New American Standard Version is a piece of useless trash.

The Message “They buried him with the wicked, threw him in a grave with a rich man,”

“The Message” is a warped paraphrase. It doesn’t even qualify as a translation and it reads like it was translated by Charles Manson. But many people have bought this bad work because of the false advertising telling them that it simply puts the Bible in “the contemporary language” of the day. That’s a flat lie. It’s a perversion of God’s word.

There isn’t a Hebrew text in the world that says they “threw [Jesus] in a grave with a rich man.” That’s just ridiculous and it would be hilarious if it weren’t so sad.

How To Avoid Error

As we have pointed out previously, the way to avoid error is to be born again by faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ AND to get a King James Bible and handle the word of God carefully. Do this and you will never stumble over passages like this one in Isaiah.

Do Psalm 104:5 & Isaiah 24:18-20 contradict?

Will the foundations of this earth be removed, or will they not be removed? 

His letter actually started with another question that we will answer first. He wrote, “According to the worshipers of King James’ version of God’s Truth, no other version of God’s Truth is really God’s Truth. According to them only the King’s version can be trusted. (Why only a version of the Truth? Why not the Truth?)”

I answered:

Dear Robert,

1. No one in our fellowship worships the King James Version. But we do acknowledge that it is the infallible Book given to us from God and we humbly submit ourselves to it, since we are not smarter than God.

2. We do not claim that the King James Version is “a version of God’s truth”, but that it is a “version of the Bible”. Honesty demands that since there are more than 300 “versions” of the Bible on the market since 1881 and they are not the same in many respects, that we identify which version of the Bible we believe. As such, we make clear in our statement of faith that the King James Version is the ONLY true version of God’s truth in English, not “a version” as you wrongly stated.

The previous genuine versions (Geneva, Tyndale, Wycliffe, etc.) are not desirable because they pre-date modern English and were improved upon by the AV 1611 translators–so why revert to a previous product whenever the one you have in your possession (if you possess the 1769 Cambridge edition of the King James Bible) is a pure, infallible, superior version? And if you speak another language, you can get the same “version” of the Masoretic Hebrew and Greek Received Text in your language with the Spanish Valera 1865, Luther’s German, etc., translations.

And, now that we have that settled, let’s move on to the specific question about a contradition in the Bible.

Again, Robert asked, “Do Psalm 104:5 & Isaiah 24:18-20 contradict? Will the foundations of this earth be removed, or will they not be removed?

My Answer:

There is no contradiction between Psalm 104:5 and Isaiah 24:18-20.

-) Psalm 104 is telling us that no one (other than the Creator) and nothing (other than the will of the Creator) can or ever will remove the foundations of the earth.

-) Isaiah 24:18-20 speaks of a future day when the Creator Himself (see verse 21) will do what no one else can do (as Psalm 104:5 declares). The Lord will shake the foundations…

What you also leave out is the fact that Isaiah also foretells that AFTER this event that you are concerned with, there will be a New Heavens and New Earth. In Isaiah 65:17 the prophet quotes the Creator as saying, “For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.”

Peter sums up the entire event this way:

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. “Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
“Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? “Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
2 Peter 3:10-13

Revelation 21 is another fascinating account of this future event.

Robert, we worship Jesus Christ. He said, “the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63) Jesus prayed to the Father saying, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (John 17:17)

Ephesians 2:8-9 says that we are saved, “by grace… through faith.” And Paul wrote, “So then, faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)

And James wrote in chapter 1 and verse 21 of his letter, “receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.”

Time and time, over and over, we are told that the word of God is what God uses to save our souls. When a believer shares the story of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, he or she is preaching the word of God that will save the soul. But Scripture makes clear that no one can be saved unless they receive it AS the word of God and not as a corrupted, changeable book from man.

“For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.” (1 Thessalonians 2:13)

But if you don’t believe it, then it won’t work.

There are no errors in the King James Bible. Only careless readers who seek an occasion to dismiss God’s word as an excuse for their rebellion.

Solomon’s Horses

One of the most famous supposed contradictions in the Bible is found in 2 Chronicles 9:25 and 1 Kings 4:25-26. The supposed contradiction is seen in the fact that 2 Chronicles 9:25 says that Solomon had 4,000 stalls for horses. Meanwhile 1 Kings 4:25-26 says that Solomon had 40,000 stalls for horses. A difference of 36,000???

The only real problem is with the sloppy and careless handling of the word of God. Besides the fact that the issue is the number of STALLS and not actually a specific reference to the number of horses, the important point to make is that these are not the SAME report and, therefore, do not contradict each other. It breaks down like this:

A.) 2 Chronicles 9:25 is giving us the exact count of stalls for horses and chariots IN JERUSALEM.

B.) 1 Kings 4:25-26 is giving us the exact count of stalls for horses and chariots IN JUDAH AND ALL OF ISRAEL.

This is a typical accounting issue that is settled once we attend King James Accounting School. In Luke 4:4 Jesus says, “That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” Notice “…BUT BY EVERY WORD OF GOD.” (Missing from most new translations.) The careless skeptic reads 4,000 and 40,000 and notices the difference, but seems to miss the fact that 2 Chronicles 9:25 gives us the stats of Jerusalem while 1 Kings 4:25-26 reports on the stats regarding stalls “from Dan to Beersheba”, covering the entire kingdom of Israel!

In our modern day, it would be as if 2 Chronicles is a report put out by a writer for the Jerusalem Post reporting on things at the Capital in Jerusalem, while 1 Kings was put out by an AP reporter on location in Tel Aviv reporting on the entirety of the Israel Cavalry from the west bank to Gaza to Lebanon and all points in between.

There’s nothing to see here. God’s word has NO contradictions. The problem is with the unregenerate reader. Believe on the death of Jesus Christ as full payment for your sin and trust in the power of His resurrection for eternal life. His Spirit will indwell you and lead you into an understanding of God’s word in the Holy Bible and you will forever be freed from misunderstandings and spiritual error.

The Age of King Jeconiah

As we will repeatedly point out, skeptics read the Bible with the DESIRE to find contradictions. Mix that with the inability to spiritually discern what they are reading (1 Corinthians 2:14) and you have a deadly combination–deadly to the skeptic and to those who believe their lies.

This desire to find error and the lack of the assistance of the Spirit of God has lead many skeptics to think that there is an error in the recorded age of King Jeconiah whenever he became King. But if you will look closely, you will see that there is no error at all.

The Contradiction?

A.) In 2 Chronicles 36:9, you will read that Jeconiah was only 8 years old when he began to reign.

B.) In 2 Kings 24:8, you will read that Jeconiah was 18 years old when he began to reign.

The answer to this supposed discrepancy is found if you read the whole chapter in context in each instance, consider other Scripture that sheds light on the matter and, as always, use a little common sense.

The Answer

The book of 2nd Chronicles refers to how old Jeconiah was when he began to reign LEGALLY. He was eight years of age when he became the legal heir to his father Johoiakim’s throne.

The book of 2nd Kings refers to how old Jeconiah was when he actually became the ACTING monarch. He was eighteen whenever he assumed the throne as King.

So who was in charge for the decade between Jeconiah’s legal right and his actual assumption of the throne? His mother.

The Queen of Israel??

In Jeremiah 13:18, the prophet says, “Say unto the king and unto the queen….” Few commentators and readers seem to even notice that this chapter is speaking of the time when the Lord would bring down Nebuchadnezzar from modern Iraq to overthrow Jeconiah and his MOTHER the QUEEN Nehushta (2 Kings 24:8).

Am I overstating the case? Jeremiah repeats and clarifies this fact as we read in Chapter 29 and he leaves no room for doubt that he is referring to Jeconiah and his Queen mother in verses 1 and 2:

“Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon; (After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;)”

This evil tag-team was carted off by Nebuchadnezzar because they were King and Queen, with Queen Nehushta having served a ten-year term much the same as Hilary Clinton and Jezebel have also served as unappointed rulers over their husbands, called President Bill and King Ahab.

The Coming KING of Israel

In the meantime, remember that the King of kings became KING in 33 AD but has yet to assume His earthly throne! Talk about a “discrepancy”?!?!? There’s no discrepancy. It’s a simple matter of using common sense to differentiate between legal right and actual assumption.

Jesus Christ gained the title in 33 AD. His coronation is set for an unannounced date but will take place after the Rapture and at the end of the seven year covenant that will be signed by a false “christ” (the acting Secretary General of the United Nations at that time) and Israel.

All of the false accusers spreading lies about “errors and contradictions” in God’s word will have been removed by that time.

God made Adam and Eve and intended this as the standard. In Genesis 2:24, the Lord says, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”

Ephesians 4:22-23 tells us that one wife joined to one husband is the Biblical model. But sin and human error took place through the years and instead of covering it all up, God shows us the men of the Bible–warts and all.

He also shows the consequences. If a man takes multiple spouses, he and his family will reap TROUBLE.

· The first polygamist was a murderer named Lamech (Genesis 4:19-23).

· Abraham took Hagar and gave birth to Ishmael (Genesis 16). The result? Ishmael produced the Arab culture which has persecuted Isaac’s offspring, the Jews, ever since. Not to mention the havoc Ishmael’s offspring continues to inflict on the rest of civilization.

· Solomon’s HUGE number of wives resulted in his going into paganism and apostasy. He raised a rebellious apostate named Rehoboam and because of Solomon’s sin, the kingdom of Israel was divided.

· The Kings, afterward, continued to multiply wives and Israel was destroyed as they fell into pagan idolatry due largely to the practices of intermarriage and polygamy with pagan women.

Some point to David, as though his practice of polygamy (multiplication of wives) was somehow “alright with God”. But they ignore the fact that David’s first child with Bethsheba died and his son Amnon raped his own half-sister (David’s daughter) Tamar. Absalom murdered Amnon only to chase David into hiding forty years later.

David had plural wives, but God condemned it and David paid a high price. Some otherwise great men, still continued the practice and the results were consistently disastrous.

It is ironic that most of the books and “counseling” on marriage involves things like knowing your spouse, spending quality time, making finances work. Polygamy more than DOUBLES these difficulties! Yet, there is renewed interest in this practice (and not only in Utah). I love my wife, but one is enough!

In Biblical times, some incidents of polygamy were an ill-informed effort to increase offspring and to help families produce children to help work fields and farms. However, this is hardly ever the case in our modern world. The fact is, the typical 21st century polygamist is nothing more than a sex pervert who wishes to have child brides upon which they can fill their ever expanding sexual appetite.

Polygamy is fornication. God calls it an abomination. And the modern polygamist faces the consequences in this life (Romans 13:1-4) and in the next (Revelation 22:8).

The Marks of a Cult: How To Know That You Are Dealing With A Cult


All false cults begin by attacking the King James Bible. The Mormons began by claiming the King James was corrupt and the Book of Mormon straightens it out. Jehovah’s Witnesses were told by Charles Taze Russell to look to the Watchtower instead of the King James Bible before eventually producing the New World Translation (comparable to the New American Standard Version in John 1:18, 1 Timothy 3:16, etc.) taken from the corrupt Alexandrian texts that produced the new translations of apostate Christianity.

Cults are religious organizations (some of whom deny being organized) which claim to teach a plan of salvation, or a pathway to God. But, unlike trustworthy Christian organizations, these groups lead a person away from the Bible and the Biblical teachings on God and salvation.

The problem we face is that one would be hard-pressed to find any of these genuine cults advertising themselves as dangerous. All cults pretend to be good and from God. None see themselves as cults. You would not read a Yellow Pages ad for a cult that says, “We are your local, satanic cult organization!” They portray themselves as being “right” or “correct”.

Are you in a cult? Is someone you know in a cult? You might think that you can tell if you are in a cult by the name over the door. But the fact is, I have seen cults with the name “Christian”, “Holiness”, “Jehovah”, “Church”, “Jesus”, “Baptist”, “Pentecostal”, etc., over the door of their meeting place. But once inside, the discerning Christian sees the marks of a cult and gets out of there quickly! Sadly, too many others do not recognize the marks of a cult and become entangled in false teachings. Names can mean nothing!

We must learn that identifying cults is not a matter of simply knowing the names of a handful of organizations. Most of us recognize the “BIG” cults by name. Most books on cults identify a dozen or so of these groups for us. But, the fact is, the estimated number of different cults in America alone is in the thousands. It would take a large encyclopedia to name and describe them all. These are available, but getting one in every home is impossible.

Therefore, the only real defense we have is two-fold:

1. Know the truth of God’s Word.

2. Know the identifying marks of a cult.

The Four Marks: A-D-D-S

There are four identifying marks that a person should avoid when joining himself or herself to a church (assembly, congregation, organization, etc.). We have them outlined with a simple acronym:


Authority other than Scripture.

Deviation from the Trinity doctrine of God.

Departure from the true Bible Doctrine of Jesus Christ.

Salvation by works and not by grace through faith alone.

Authority Other Than Scripture Bible Christianity is based upon the premise that God has revealed His will to mankind in a set of 66 individual books. This collection of books is called The Holy Bible, or Holy Scripture. 2 Timothy 3:16 in the King James Bible tells us that Scripture is “given by inspiration of God.” It is literally “God-breathed.” It is not some unknowable, untouchable “original manuscripts”. The Scripture was in the hands of Timothy in his day and is in your hands in the 21st century, if you are holding an AV 1611 King James Bible. (Other languages would include the Spanish Valera 1865, Luther’s German Bible, etc.)

Bible Christians further believe that since a perfect God gave us His word, it must be without error. A perfect, holy God cannot err. “The words of the Lord are pure words.” (Psalm 12:6 kjv) God has kept His word pure and will do so “for ever” (Psalm 12:7). The Bible has been tested and attacked for thousands of years. But it has never been destroyed and has never been proven to be anything less than perfect.

Revelation 22:18 declared the writing of God’s word complete around 100 A. D. saying, “If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this Book.” (Revelation 22:18 kjv) There is no “new revelation” or “new word from God” to be heard today. The Psalmist said, “For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in Heaven.” (119:89 kjv)

But the mark of a cult is to reject this Biblical teaching and do one of two things:

1. Corrupt the words of God.

2. Add to the words of God.

Cults corrupt God’s inspired words in several ways. First, cults publish new translations which contain twisted readings that support their “new” teachings. The Watchtower cult publishes the corrupt “New World Translation”. Liberals (apostates) in mainline denominations promote the New Revised Standard (per)-Version. All new translations derive from the society of scholars (“SS troops”) known as the Alexandrian Cult.

A second way cults tamper with the words of God is to publish books and magazines that re-interpret God’s words. The cult follower is told that they should not attempt to interpret the Bible without the aid of these publications. The result is, the cult follower’s understanding of God’s word is clouded with the words of men. Again, the Watchtower cult has it’s magazines (Watchtower, Awake) and most smaller cults rely on newsletter type papers to spread their “new revelation”.

Cults also add to God’s word in more than one way. Some publish additional “sacred writings” comparable in their own view to the authority of the Bible. The LDS (Mormon) cult has it’s Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, as well as other “temple” writings, etc. Christian Science elevates the writings of Mary Baker Eddy to the status of “scripture”. Many Seventh Day Adventists elevate the writings of Ellen G. White to “inspired” status. The Roman Catholic Cult adds the Apocrypha, Ex-Cathedra statements of the Popes, Councils, Creeds, etc.

Some Cults also have so-called “prophets” that speak new revelation. David Koresh, Jim Jones and the Pope all have claimed this “gift” which enables them to ignore the Bible and build their false religion.

Whatever church, “denomination,” or organization you may belong to or follow, you should be alarmed if they place anything next to the Bible as an authority. That is a cult practice.

Deviation From The Trinity Doctrine of God

The first recorded conversation is between God. “Between God?” Yes. The first conversation in the Bible is found in Genesis 1:26 where, “God said, Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness.” (Emphasis ours.) From this we see that God is one, but is a plurality of personalities.

Now if a human being has multiple personalities, we think them to be insane, or at least mentally ill. But God is not a man (Numbers 23:19). God is a Spirit (John 4:24) and He is above knowing and fully understanding. We only know about Him what He tells us. He reveals Himself to man, but man can only grasp this awesome God to a certain extent. He is just bigger than our minds can fathom. And He is one God who exists in three personalities: Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

In His revelation of Himself to man, God tells us:

1. He is One God: Deuteronomy 6:4, Ephesians 4:5.

2. He is three persons: Matthew 28:19, 1 John 5:7

3. The Father is God: Isaiah 63:16, Philippians 2:11

4. The Son is God: Isaiah 9:6, 1 Timothy 3:16

5. The Holy Ghost is God: Acts 5:3-4, Ephesians 4:30

But cults refuse to accept this doctrine, most times simply because they refuse to accept a God that they cannot comprehend and explain in simple terms. My first response to that kind of thinking is to say this: Any so-called “god” that can be understood and fully explained by our finite minds is not a real God at all. God is above us. But cults create a false God made in man’s own image!

There are two ways in which most cults deviate from the doctrine of the Trinity. One way is to claim that the Trinity is a “pagan” doctrine. They will misrepresent the doctrine of the Trinity and claim that it teaches “three gods”. Of course the Trinity does not teach this, but that doesn’t stop the cults from giving unwary subjects this false impression as though it were the truth.

Another way they might misrepresent the truth of the Trinity is to give people the idea that Trinitarians believe in a sort of “three-headed” God. In either case, the doctrine of the Trinity is purposely distorted with plenty of artwork and illustrations to further malign the true teaching of the Church on the Trinity.

Another way in which the cults deviate from the Trinity is to give lip service to a belief in “The Father, Son and Holy Ghost” while adding heretical and unbiblical teachings. Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses turn the “holy spirit” into a FORCE of God instead of a Person Who is all-powerful. Other cults follow this same line of heresy, adding the cult leader (Moon, Koresh, etc.) to the level of ‘godhood” and, thus, being polytheistic (belief in many gods) in all reality. The Catholic cult adds Mary as Co-redemptrix and turns Jesus into a strange Zues-like character who needs a “mother” to direct him.

The bottom line is simple. The Trinity must be rejected so that the cult can support its departure from the Biblical doctrine of Jesus Christ.

Departure From The Biblical Doctrine Of Jesus Christ

While the Biblical teaching that Jesus Christ is divine is indirectly attacked when cults deviate from the doctrine of the Trinity, cults directly attack this truth as well. The practice is simply to speak of Jesus in the highest human and religious terms, while refusing to give him the title and/or position of “the Almighty God”.

Most cults refuse to give Jesus the place of “full deity”. All of them allow Him to be spoken of in terms of high spirituality and even use the term “divine” to describe Him. But when it gets right down to it, Jesus is relegated to be less than God.

Some of these cult leaders assume a position of equality with, or replacement of, Jesus Christ. Hindu-based cult gurus use Christian language and Biblical terminology while claiming to be “the reincarnated Christ.” The Pope is called “Vicar of Christ” which is “Anti-Christ” or “in the place of Christ”. Mormons believe that on Judgment Day we will stand before Elohim (heavenly Father), Jesus and Joseph Smith!

Other cults teach things about Jesus that are just as absurd and just as unbiblical. There are racist cults who want us to believe that Jesus was white, black, oriental, etc. ANYTHING but a Jew! There are so many departures that they seem endless. But if you know the real Jesus, you will recognize these false Christs. Know Jesus and know peace!

Salvation By Works And Not By Grace Through Faith Alone

John 3:16 is one of the most well-known verses in the Bible. It says that “whosoever believeth in him (Jesus) should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Other verses are as crystal clear on this matter and teach us that salvation comes by faith alone in the death, burial and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. Here are two clear examples:

Ephesians 2:8-10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

Titus 3:5 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us,…”

The simple fact of the matter is that we are saved to do good works, not by our good works. As Paul said in Romans, “…if it be of works, then is it no more grace.” In other words, if you are saved by works then you would actually be saving yourself—which is not possible!. But the Bible says we are saved by God, not by our own works or merit. Notice in Ephesians 2:9-10 (above) that we are saved “by grace…through faith” and THEN come the “good works.”

But cults twist this around. They do teach that we must believe in Jesus in order to be saved, but they go beyond this and teach that we must also add certain other works in order to be saved. If you will read the book of Galatians, you will see that Paul fought this cultic mentality in his day. In Galatia, there were men saying that we must believe in Jesus AND be circumcised Jewish law-keepers. But Paul called this “another gospel” and pronounced those who add works to salvation “accursed”.

The cults will add works to the Gospel and make it “another gospel: which is not another” (Galatians 1:6-7) but is a FALSE “gospel”. They will say that you must:

-Believe and be baptized.

-Believe and join their organization.

-Believe and tithe (give money).

-Believe and perform sacraments or ordinances.

-Believe and continue in their cult until you die.

-Believe and …….

The poor souls trapped in the cults are told that the work of salvation is not finished. They are told that they are saved by faith AND works. This is BONDAGE.

Don’t be fooled! If works of any kind are added to the message of salvation, then salvation is no longer of God but of man. Repeatedly, salvation is called a “free gift” (Romans 5:15-18). Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Yes, death is the wages of sin. We EARN our place among those who die without salvation and end up in a place called Hell. If a person goes to Hell, God did not send them there. They chose to go there and earned their way by sinning and not turning to God.

But salvation is NOT a matter of wages. Salvation CANNOT be earned. Salvation must be received. It is a gift. And if works are added to the message of salvation, then it is no more a gift. And if salvation were not a gift, then Romans 6:23 would be in error!


Dear reader, do not allow anyone to blur your vision of the Bible. If they point you away to an Authority other than the Bible, Deviate from the Trinity, Depart from the Bible Doctrine of Jesus Christ OR teach Salvation by works and not by grace through faith alone in the death, burial and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ….GET OUT!!

Cults are a danger to your soul. And if you fall prey to them, you’re liable to lead others into their hands as well.
